ABOUT OUR CAKES

The name Vondelkoeken owes its name to the fact that Frans Ruhof bakery had its business on Joost van den Vondellaan in Deventer in the 1970s.

The secret recipe originates in Raalte. Bakker Hein van de Luycken started with this delicious soft gingerbread with a crispy outside after the war. In the 1970s, the secret recipe was further developed and baked according to traditional methods.

The recipe has been preserved all this time, so that we can still proudly present these tasty and mouth-wateringly delicious cakes years later. Today we still use the same ingredients in the same traditional way as before, only now we have more than just gingerbread.
The flour and butter are the basis, we now have 8 different cakes.
It is therefore a wonderful fact that the grandson of Frans, Gijs Ruhof, will continue the family tradition of baking cakes 35 years later.

We no longer want to deprive you of the most delicious cakes in the Netherlands. The product is handmade and has three weights 75 grams, 250 grams and 500 grams. After you have placed your order you will receive our cakes at home.

Tip: Did you know that you can freeze our cakes!! Yes, you read that right, freezing cakes, because of the special soft structure you can store them for up to 6 months without the quality deteriorating. Tip for you, if you want to eat these cakes, remove the cakes from the freezer 45 minutes before consumption and enjoy these delicious traditional cakes every day.

THE BAKER

My name is Gijs Ruhof and making foundl cakes is continuing a tradition of my grandfather Frans Ruhof.
  Preparing Vondelcakes is a tribute to our family. "People are happy by eating our cake and that gives me inspiration," says Gijs.
